Pre-shipment inspections occur at the factory after the supplier finishes the production, but before all of the products are packaged in export cartons. Upon the inspector’s arrival, the supplier is informed to ensure the inspector has proper access to the products and a safe working environment for the inspection.
Inspectors select a random sampling of the products for a detailed inspection review. Our inspectors follow the recognized statistical sampling procedure ANSI/ASQC Z1.4 (ISO 2859-1) to ensure that the selected products are random. Inspectors rely on the Accepted Quality Limit (AQL) tables to define the allowable number of issues and prevent bias during their inspections.
After conducting a visual inspection, the inspectors begin cross-checking the confirmed specifications with the completed products. The inspectors look for any missing specifications or added details that were not part of the approved order.
Products with moving parts, such as power tools or exercise machines, undergo inspection that ensures their mechanical features are working correctly and don’t show signs of issues that could cause injuries or lead to damage. Inspectors check for sharp edges, loose screws, bolts, and potentially dangerous areas of the product.
Inspectors check for accurate labeling within observable compliance standards. Compliance examples can be specific product labelings, such as an FDA or CE mark, or proper packaging and warning labels.
Inspectors count the contents in the export cartons to confirm the accuracy of the production quantity. If products are missing, the inspector will inform the supplier and include their findings within the report. Quantity verifications allow the supplier to quickly adjust the quantity not to delay the planned shipping date.
For the initial check, an inspector will review the overall quality of the completed product. They seek to identify any visible defects or issues and make them aware to the buyer.
Inspectors conduct electronics tests to ensure the products comply with the necessary safety regulations required by the customer. Inspectors will conduct high voltage tests, ground continuity, insulation resistance, leakage current, and battery discharge and charge.
When inspectors check garments such as footwear, or apparel, they conduct physical checks to ensure the fabric’s thickness and density comply with the technical specifications. They inspect the products’ dexterity by testing the strength of the seams, buttons, zippers, and elasticity.
After the inspection, the inspector will compile their notes and findings into a detailed report to present their findings and provide a clear indication of whether or not the supplier passed the inspection, if the examination fails, or if missing components are preventing the inspector from issuing a passing mark.
Manufacturing in China is a daunting task. It is incredibly difficult for buyers to maintain assurance when the distance and the cultural differences between you and the supplier are significant. Our team provides you with comfort and confidence, knowing that one of our team members is in your factory, reviewing your products before finalizing your factory payment.
Watch us as we take a detailed, analytical look at your finalized production and scrutinize every indication to confirm that your order complies with the specifications.
Our quality department can consult with you anytime your suppliers are struggling or need assistance in improving their product quality. With our experienced professional inspectors, we can help plan and customize an ideal solution to ensure your products meet your customers’ strictest quality standards.
Our team of qualified inspectors is strategically located throughout China. To offer an inspection service capable of reaching all over the nation, we have spent years educating and expanding our roster of inspectors to cover virtually every manufacturing city in China. Rest assured, wherever you have a production taking place in China; we can send one of our inspectors there for you.
We understand the need to book an inspection can happen at the very last minute, so we strive to make our services as flexible as possible for our clients. Whenever a last-minute inspection request is booked, we do everything within our power to arrange an inspector to visit your supplier at the time requested.
Once your products leave China, the chances of rectifying any quality-related issues become increasingly small and costly. As long as your products are still inside your contracted factory, the opportunity to resolve any problems stays in your favor. Because of this, you must have boots on the ground, visiting your factory, and inspecting your products as comprehensively as possible.
When you hire us to act as your quality inspection team, we become your last line of defense, as we rigorously review your production and point out any issues we find before it is too late.
The majority of businesses purchasing from China rely on the Accepted Quality Limit (AQL) to define their inspection standards. But AQL tables are not the only standard when it comes to an inspection. At Guided Imports, we know there is no one size fits all solution, which is why we are are happy to follow the internationally accepted standards or follow your standards.
When it comes time to book an inspection, we ask you which standard you would like us to follow. We have custom-built calculators that present the actual number of samples our inspectors will select based on your chosen settings.
Product quality and compliance are in our DNA. As a quality driven company, we follow strict guidelines and procedures set forth by internationally recognized standards. We operate in a way that is focused on preserving the quality standards each of our customers require.
We don’t allow our love and devotion to quality systems to get lost in translation. We understand that most of our customers don’t live by ISO standardizations or follow strict quality management systems. When booking an inspection or communicating with our team, we make sure that you understand every aspect of the inspection process, and we are more than happy to go to great lengths to educate you on what you need to know as a buyer.
Let’s face it, neglecting to conduct a quality control inspection opens the doors to significant risk in your investment. Failing to perform a pre-shipment inspection in China means the buyer relies on the chance that there were no mistakes or malicious intent during the production.
Most Chinese factories will do whatever it takes to complete the production quickly and inexpensively, regardless of the final product quality. While we all wish to believe that suppliers work for long term business relationships, countless horror stories and bad-quality products show us that this is rarely the case.
Our China pre-shipment inspection services seek to identify problems in your production before your products are shipped. Our inspection services leave you with ample opportunity to work with your supplier to rectify all issues before your goods leave their premises.
The journey your products take once they leave your factory is long and filled with uncertainties. Once they arrive in your consumers or customers’ hands, there is further uncertainty in whether the products were produced appropriately and lack any critical issues that could lead to injury, product liability, lawsuits, and product recall.
While quality control inspections cannot guarantee zero issues, they allow for confidence and demonstrate a brand’s carefulness in maintaining the trust that the production batch lacks critical problems.
